Pete Dunham is a primary school teacher and in 2005 would have been subject to a detailed Criminal Records Bureau/ CRB check (now Disclosure & Barring Service/ DBS). This not only details any and all criminal convictions but also information held by the police. This includes "information that has not led to a criminal conviction but may indicate a danger to vulnerable groups".
As a high flying (and long serving) member of the GSE Pete would have to be incredibly lucky in order to be both Top Boy of a hooligan firm AND have this fact be unknown to both the police and his employers.
