Boats mentions Zanzibar, saying it is quite a town. Zanzibar is not a town but an island. A former independent country ruled by a sultan, it had come under British rule after WWI and in the early sixties would eventually merge with Tanganyika to form the country of Tanzania. The town of note on Zanzibar is Stone Town, which has the combined cultures of ancient Arabia with traditional Africa.
