As Matau splashes into the liquid protodermis chute, the ripples he creates spread outward as if on a still surface. The protodermis is moving at fast speed through the chute, so the ripples should keep on going too together with the liquid. (This was correctly done in the promotional Bionicle videos, however the animators of this movie neglected it.)
