In his report to Travis and Bowie, Bonham says that Fannin's troops should cross the Rio Diablo "...late tomorrow afternoon". Fannin wouldn't be crossing the Devil's River at all because it's far west of San Antonio. It drains into the Rio Grande near current day Del Rio, Texas, along the present day border of Texas and Mexico. The river Fannin would be contending with is the San Antonio River that flows from San Antonio to and passed Goliad.
