When Osato's men in the black Toyota are lifted up by the giant magnet, the Thompson gun of one man clearly is made of rubber, because it does not get influenced by the magnet at all. It is however questionable if the magnet was really used in its proper function to lift the car. The shot in question is quite obvious a back projection shot (as is visible for one reason by the background, which does not match the one in wide shot), so the magnet in all likelihood is just a dummy fixed to the car permanently, meaning the machine gun not being affected says nothing about the material it is made of.
