When Gardner and Kendra are traveling through space on their way back to earth they are shown in a weightless state. Kendra has her hair pulled back but Gardner's long hair is down over his forehead and down on the sides. Since they are supposedly in a weightless environment his hair should be floating. His hair is long enough it wouldn't stay combed while weightless.
