the characters black out trying to climb up the cliff and fall to their deaths, trying to swim out and drown, but are inexplicably and instantly "transported" back to the beach when they black out while going through the canyon.However, these events are explained. One of the characters describes to one of the blackout victims that he stumbled incoherently out of the canyon and collapsed on the beach after trying to leave. This explains how someone would drown if in water or fall off a cliff.
