As the kids run away from the pawnshop manager, a grey truck van suddenly appears from nowhere and honks the horn. Since the kids were at the end of a dead-end street, there was no way that the truck van could be coming from that direction - unless it drove through the wall of an overpass. There was only a walkway from behind the kids - and no van was parked behind them.
