(at around 1h 2 mins) In the bunker with the computer equipment from the 1970s, the top and bottom reels of the tape drives moved in steady unison. Unless every tape was exactly at the middle, the reels would have to spin at different speeds. But they didn't work that way anyway; vertical tape drives of that period were "vacuum column" drives. They were very jumpy (lots of starts/stops) and the top and bottom reels were staggered in motion (one speeding up slightly before the other).
