When the cannon hits the ditch at the end of the roll and breaks, the pivot part of the barrel that breaks off is clearly wooden. A large chunk of it breaks off of the cannon barrel and looks like a tree trunk does when it is split, with large wood fibers clearly visible. This shows that the cannon is made of wood and not metal.
