The prologue depicts a Giganotosaurus fighting with and killing a Tyrannosaurus (who turns out to be the genetic blueprint for Rexy). Both creatures lived in separate continents and in different time periods. There were not even similar creatures to either that coexisted. The relatives of Giganotosaurus (and Allosaurus) went extinct in North America before the ancestors of Tyrannosaurs (which were the size of a raptor at that time) were able to grow into Tyrannosaurus-like size.
