During the opening train scene, as Johnny Reid tries to get free of the chains, he says "That's reinforced Bethlehem Steel." The company was founded in 1857 as Saucona Iron Company. On May 1, 1861, its name changed to the Bethlehem Iron Company. It became Bethlehem Steel Company in 1899.
