A number of military units which once existed in the past are mentioned as if they are still active formations. Some of the A-Team's members are said to be former members of the 4th Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, and General Morrison apparently commands the 8th Infantry Division in Iraq. However, the real 4th Ranger Battalion was disbanded after sustaining massive casualties in Italy during World War II. Likewise, the actual 8th Infantry Division had been disbanded in 1992. However, the decision to use these units may have been to intentionally distance the film, its characters, and events from reality while maintaining a degree of 'authenticity.'
