On Skyfall's frozen pond, Bond shoots his way through the ice in order to bring himself and Silva's henchman underwater in order to suffocate him. Bond and the invader struggle underwater where Bond chokes the man to death, although both men are already underwater and cannot breathe anyway. Bond still needed to ensure the henchman would no longer pose a threat and therefore needed to kill him as soon as possible instead of hoping he would drown.
