Throughout the film, as well as in production stills, 5 or 6 black-clad Gas Town men can consistently be seen riding on top of The People Eater's limousine, in addition to the gunner and driver. During the final chase, as the driver and gunner are killed and the tanker is ignited, they can still be seen in the background. However, when the film cuts to show the whole limo, they vanish completely and do not reappear.
