In this episode, as well as others in the series, Drew says he is going to "Contact the Sheriff" about a crime he has discovered. Sheriffs in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania don't investigate crimes. While they undergo the same training as other law enforcement officers, they must turn over any criminal investigations to either local law enforcement or the PA State Police. Sheriff's deputies mainly serve writs and transport prisoners to and from court appearances. They are not criminal investigators.
