It is morning and light out in Washington D.C. when the stuff with the spaceships is beginning. Then it shows the desert in Northern Iraq and shows the spaceship coming and it is dark in Northern Iraq. Iraq is 7 hours ahead of Washington D.C., so it would be light out in Iraq also.
