Regarding the Zeus weapon, it is not possible to "drop" anything from orbit. By definition, anything in orbit is in free fall, aka weightless. Letting go of something will cause it to maintain the same freefall. It takes energy to displace something either up or down in this environment. The weapon could work but only if it fired the bolts as if from a gun or bow. This would cause a reaction on the satellite platform itself which would have to compensate with station-keeping rockets.
