Many of Cleopatra's costumes bear no resemblance to period garb and appear to be quite similar to early 1960s dresses. This is not entirely unexpected, as costume designers for a number of major films of that era introduced clothing lines "inspired" by the film.For example, seven years after this film, Edith Head did the costuming for the film Airport, then introduced an exclusive line of apparel based on the her designs for the costumes of the stewardesses.
