(at around 1h 50 mins) As Ripley blows the alien out of one of the Narcissus' aft engines, the exhaust is obviously water because it dribbles down the camera lens. Ridley Scott stated that water was used to create the illusion of plasma. The water flowing over the camera lens is obviously an intended dramatic effect to show the intense energy generated by the intended plasma.
