Oleg talks about the Scandinavian origin of the Rus as an event far in the past. The show takes place in the late 8th and early 9th century, before time the Swedish vikings are believed to have started to establish themselves in what would become modern Russia, Belarus and Ukraine. In fact Igor belonged to the first generation of Rus born in their new land as opposed to Oleg and Rurik, who where born in Sweden.
