In the scene in the officer's Mess (approximately 46 minutes in), Borodin asks the doctor to get the radiation test data. In the background a kitchen crewman (possibly cook's assistant Loganoff?) in a white cook's outfit can be seen tending to the buffet. Borodin escorts the doctor to the door and locks it behind him. The crewman in white has now disappeared and the officers begin to discuss the political officer's death in private. Update: Note that when the kitchen crewman is visible in the background, he leaves the frame to the right, which would be in the direction of the door of the officer's Mess (which was open at the time), so it is entirely possible for him to have left so the officers can eat in private.
