The Shell oil station where Murphy confronts Emil shows corrugated garden hoses spooled around a steel wheel as hose coming from the gasoline pump. While no gas station in real life history has ever used such a setup, with spooled-up hose full of gasoline and exposed in the open, directly going against several OSHA regulations regarding the dispensing of gasoline, this is meant to be a future in which corporations entirely disregard safety regulations.
