While the war appears to being close to lost 30 years after the invasion; all forms of travel and military ballistics still exist and can be used against the creatures. Col. Forester said the creatures first landed in Russia. Since entire world agreed to a world wide draft; nuclear arms could have been used in the first 3 years to eradicate the aliens before they grew in numbers (or at current state of invasion) at the initial place they breeched Earth.
