Chloe and her family are Jehovah's Witnesses. There are many incongruities with this in the film. Chloe's father is said to be the pastor, but the organization does not have pastors but rather elders. They speak often about going to church, a term not normally used by Jehovah's Witnesses for the Kingdom Hall. The church building features a prominent cross above the door. Jehovah's Witnesses do not recognize religious symbols and certainly not the cross, which they consider a pagan symbol attached to Jesus' death about 300 years after-the-fact.
