Before Bond shoots Dent, he says "That's a Smith & Wesson and you've had your six." Dent's gun is clearly a Colt Model 1911 which holds seven rounds (or eight with one in the chamber). Also, after Dent fired into the bed, the slide locked back indicating the weapon was empty so there was no reason for him to pick it back up and try to shoot Bond with it.
