Given the geological setting and temporal range in which the film takes place, the ancient Pleistocene fauna of this specific point in prehistory should quite literally be everywhere in sight, inhabiting the vast barren landscape. In addition to such prehistoric beasts as wolves, big cats, vultures, mammoths and bears, there also would have been bison, antelope, giant deer, cave lions, woolly rhinos, cave hyenas, wild cattle and horses (to name but a few).
