At around 12 minutes, the Vatican liaison tells Landon that a note was sent to the Swiss Guard saying the first Cardinal will be killed at 8:00 PM in Italy/Vatican City. Landon is in Massachusetts USA and swimming at 5:30 AM. That's a seven-hour difference from Vatican City. Assuming a seven-hour flight and an hour to and from both airports, it would be impossible for them to arrive before the first Cardinal killing, let alone well before.
