When Buford T. Justice faces off with the Bandit, Frog, and Snowman to prove his marksmanship skills as they prepare to leave the loading dock with Charlotte, Burford holds the CB/PA microphone close to his waist as he uses it to communicate with the Bandit. There is no way that the microphone would pick his voice up from such a distance, and with the clarity that it can be heard.
