(at around 43 mins) When Randy exits the elevator and is attacked by the rabid German Shepherd, he holds onto the dog's collar from the side, near the back of its head, deliberating causing it to "attack" him. That means the dog may not have been well trained, and the actor (or stuntman) had to hold the dog in place to keep it from running off the set. The normal reaction would be to push the dog's chest and throat to get it off.
