As the battle in Dale begins Bard orders the women and children to go to the Great Hall for protection and his children are shown running to the hall. Later when he confronts Alfrid for being a coward and Alfrid asks Bard why he is fighting, Bard nods to the side where his children are seen huddled in a doorway.
