The average bathtub holds about 300 liters of water so even if the Amphibian Man took up half the volume, it would require more than 7 kilograms of salt to bring it to 5% saline (the minimum Hoffstetler recommends) - far more than Elisa pours in to revive the creature (but consistent with a later scene in which Giles is seen unbagging a large amount of salt). Related to this, while bodies of water with 5%-8% salinity exist, the creature is said to be from the Amazon, which would unlikely ever be that salty.
