(at around 9 mins) In the newscast at the beginning of the film, we are told "Ginny Fields miraculously survived repeated attacks by the ax-wielding killer." In L'assassino ti siede accanto, Jason did not use an ax in any of the death scenes. Jason doesn't kill anyone with an ax until Venerdì 13 - Capitolo finale.
