The doppelganger Kane is supposed to be alien with different abilities that human's (according to Lena's encounter with hers, the grenade doesn't burn it immediately - they're organic and non-organic somehow?) but he is most of the movie on a special facility undergoing numerous tests and medical interventions. So either a) he has no different abilities and in that case it doesn't matter if who's left is the "real" Kane (or Lena), or b) the alien is magic. So not a science based movie then.
