Jack has to shoot Reggie in order to kill the Iceman, since the Iceman was using Reggie as a shield. However, given that Jack fires a Smith & Wesson Model 629 with a .44 magnum round, the bullet would have gone through Reggie, the Iceman, and kept on going. It would not have stopped at the soft tissue of Reggie's shoulder.
