Incorrectly regarded as a goof: when Vada lets Shelly in the front door, after she first arrives at the Sultenfuss home, the song "It Never Rains In Southern California" by Albert Hammond is heard playing. The movie is set during the summer of 1972. This song wasn't released until October of that year. However, albums and songs (as singles), more often than not, are released on separate dates. While it may have not been released as a single until October, it was probably still available on the album, which holds all the songs.
