When Penderton mounts Firebrand; the horse has no open cuts or wounds on its front right leg. However, after it panics and starts running wild; you now see flesh wounds on its right front leg although up to that point in the film there is nothing that happened to cause it like running into a branch or tree or a bush. Additionally, there were no sounds of the horse hitting any objects before you first see the blood. .
