Lt. Col. Devoe has both Ranger and Special Forces tabs on his uniforms. At the air base in Turkey he appears to be wearing a black beret, which was the Ranger beret color at the time of the movie. However, his unit crest on the beret is not that of the 75th Ranger Regiment nor of any other special operations command unit. It comes closest in appearance, with the upper yellow half separated diagonally, to the 8th Special Forces Group (Green Berets), a unit deactivated in 1972.
