Han Solo (Peter) is clearly seen taking the couch. He gets it wedged onto the space ship & stands there just holding it because it's stuck. A few minutes later he comes running in to shoot at the enemy. When shooting at the tie fighters, you can clearly see the Millennium Falcon no longer has the loading door down with the couch on it as if he pushed the wedged couch off the side to run in & start firing. When attacking the Death Star, Han Solo (peter) & Chewbacca (Brian) are sitting on the couch firing their weapons as if it was never thrown off their ship.
