When Iron Man is thrown off the Raptor jet, he wouldn't fly straight back so dramatically. At the time of losing his grip, he is moving at the same speed as the jet. He would be flung away from the center line of motion but still move forward at the same speed (for a moment) before beginning to be influenced by gravity if he didn't use his own power to fly. Wind resistance is not enough to explain moving straight back with no outward movement.
