As Bugs counts the paces off, he reaches 9, then counts 9 1/2, 9 3/4, 9 3/16, 11/16, 12/16, 10. The normal progression would be 9, 9 1/2, 9 3/4, 9 7/8, 9 15/16, 9 31/32, 10 - using progressively finer fractions. Also, note that 12/16 can reduce to 3/4.
