When Tom starts his walk you see him come through the archway near St Jean-Pied-de-Port's Church. He turns left and then the Captain Henri corrects him and tells him the Camino starts over a small bridge. Neither Tom or Henri's route are actually on the Camino which should run straight over the River Nive directly from the archway and up the Rue D'Espagne out of town.
