At 1h 2 mins, Soundwave announces that Optimus Prime is dead before he actually dies. This is because he's in contact with Megatron and Megatron has stopped his attack, something he'd only do after knowing Prime was going to die. Thus although Prime wasn't physically dead, there was no doubt he was finished.
