(at around 55 mins) Nedry tells Hammond that various systems will be down temporarily while a debugging routine runs. System maintenance like this would never be performed while the system was in operation for business purposes, such as having people out on the tour. The maintenance would have been done overnight or when the system was otherwise not needed and only after review and approval of the actions and consequences.
