Control resigns and walks out of a busy office with Smiley on 14th November 1973 which was actually a Public Holiday in the UK because of the Royal Wedding that day between Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips. There was no sign of activity with crowds building up on the streets either as the men left the building.
