There is no reason given for Brooks to wear the camouflage suit and chase the girl.Brooks isn't wearing the suit - it is always the doctor, and Gustafson earlier discussed with the doctor the fact that he keeps cracking his knuckles. The doctor knew to do this to make Gustafson think it was Brooks and therefore cause her reaction.
