When Marion checks into the Bates Motel, she tells Norman she needs sleep more than anything "except food." He asks her to have dinner with him because he was about to have dinner anyway. Then, when Norman brings the food, Marion says she isn't that hungry, and Norman says it's all for her because he's not that hungry.
