(at around 2h) In the chess sequence, Harry's move to c5 is not checkmate as the queen can block on e3. It would instead have been mate next move as Harry could take the queen and Hermione on f8, black's other (non-Harry) bishop on c6 and white's pawn on h2 are blocking all escape squares of the king on g1. Ron could have mated more quickly by sacrificing Harry on c5 and mating himself on h3 but chose to save Harry.
