Vasquel holds a revolver on the group and dictates who goes and who stays. Ellis (who's been designated to stay) tries to jump Vasquel and Vasquel shoots him. He then shoos everyone else onto the plane except the Spanglers, who have requested to stay. Vasquel then checks the revolver and sees he has two live rounds left, with the other chambers empty. There is no sign of the spent cartridge used to dispatch Ellis, although Vasquel has not unloaded the gun.
