Cady's head and shoulders were on fire for at least 10 seconds, yet he suffered just a few holes in his sweater and blisters on his face. In reality his hair would have been entirely consumed, his eyes and skin severely damaged, and his ability to breath and talk severely impaired.Cady is a tough guy. So tough that he let the molten lava from the flare flow over his hand without visible damage. He was squirted by a thin stream of lighter fluid for a few seconds. That's not enough to do all that described damage. Also, his hair was still wet from swimming to the houseboat, so not entirely consumed. His burns looked very realistic.
